My experince from over 4 year ago.
My boy was 9 months old, had a fever 40'C, we at home couldn't bring down.
Went to PM emergency (it was a Sunday)
He was treated promtly, not much waiting, Dr couldn't find the infection (fever = infection). They ask if we would want to take an x ray to see if he had lung infection, we did, found nothing. He was given Paracetamol and we were given a bowl of lukewarm water to sponge him down, he was striped down to his nappy. It took over 1/2 hour to bring down the temperture. After that, Dr looked at him again, and said possibily he had a throat infection. Went home with more Paracetamol.
Infants get priorty treatment, so you shouldn't need to wait long.
