u don't need to worry too much abt his weight ...

my son was also underweight (and now still). he was 8.1 lb at birth but only 20 lbs at 1. i asked the pedi if he's fine as he's supposed to be 24+ lbs at 1 but he said 18-24 lbs is fine as most bbs are borned at 6-8 lbs. he said it's just a "guideline" and as long as the bb is doing well in developments he's fine.
also, his pedi didn't tell us to take him to see any nutritionist and he even said it's completely fine if he drank milk (breastmilk and formula) only without any solid food. so, for about couple months, he only drank milk but nothing else.

for breast feeding infant, they have better taste bug as breast milk is relatively sweeter than formula.. so they may or may not like to start solid food too soon.

市面上好多baby food 其實都好好味, 而且Kyle 咁大個, 有好多選擇. 有冇俾Gerber 一罐罐既baby food dinner 俾Kyle 食?
煮粥仔可以有好多變化. 我媽咪就會用魚(入湯袋), 豬骨(入湯袋)煲水, 再用D水加瘦肉or雞肉煲粥. Pariis 可以一餐食一大碗. 我99就會加番茄, 加紅蘿蔔, 有時加節瓜咁煲囉. 仲有好多野都可以俾小朋友食, 例如蕃薯, 蛋黃.
慢慢來啦, 唔好太擔心. 問醫生有D咩係"唔食得"既, 其他野, 就儘量俾機會佢食下, 等佢習慣下.

ian had the same problem of just wanting breastmilk and fruit last month when he was teething.
he refused to take rice cereal since he was 7 months old, so his pedi asks us to cook him congee or give him mash potato and bread.
he loves rice very much so now i started cooking him 飯仔﹐通常滾節瓜/冬瓜再加肉整左個湯底再用來煮稀飯﹐食得唔多﹐但好過唔肯食野呀...
整粥我通常煮好白粥然後落菜碎滾下﹐最後落另外蒸熟左的肉碎落粥到﹐噤唔使煲D肉同菜太耐...
你仔仔一餐食到都好大份量下﹐我見你BLOG D FRUIT﹐IAN只能吃1/3一餐咋...
carrot+chicken congee is very sweet, ian tried some and he loves it very much.. even my older son he's a picky eater, he could finish a big bowl of it.
my older son, ryan, has been underweight since he was 1.5yrs old, but his pedi said it's nothing to worry about as long as he's active and healthy.. so i just let him while try cooking different food for him. he eats a lot better now since he started school and finally he is willing to try new food
... probably use lots of energy at school thats why.

regular cheese is ok..Karft or any brand is fine..
don't buy a big pack in 1 time.. buy the smallest portion.. see how he is going with it.
cut it to the bite size when he sits on his high chair...
you can keep him on the high chair while you are doing housework, washing dishes, and give him some finger food for him to learn how to grap and self feed by himself.
Gerber puffs and cheese are good sources of nutrition.

各位美國媽媽:

您們好!

我剛才正研究心儀小學的校曆表, 發現一些問題, 請各位幫忙指教:

1. 正常的上課時間是由 8:15 am - 2:10 pm, 但我發現逢星期三均列為 Modified Days 8:15 - 1:30 pm, 放學時間提早了. 請問何謂 Modified Days? 是否所有小學也將星期三定為 Modified Days ?

2. 另外, 在校曆表上有少數日子定為 Minimum Days, 放學時間提早至 1:30 pm. 請問何謂 Minimum Days?

3. 在上述提早放學的日子, 是否仍會在校內吃過午飯才回家?

4. 我在 2007 - 2008 年校曆表內看到該校 First Day of school 是在 7 月 25 日. 而學期結束在 6 月 19 日, 6 月 20 日開始放暑假. 請問美國的暑假是這麼短暫的嗎? 因為香港早於七月中便放暑假, 直至九月才開學. 是否所有美國的小學都是在七月尾開學?

you r asking questions about a particular school. As all the schools have different schedules and calendars, i suggest you call/visit the school directly and ask them to explain to you. in nyc, the summer vacation starts end of june. school begins again in early sept.

glad to hear that your son likes going to school. ryan just started last week, he was ok the 1st 3 days, but on the 4the day, he draged my leg asking me to stay in the class w him haha.. he's ok after i left.
you must be happy and feeling relax now, got more time to spend w your younger one. ^^
is he going for full day or half day?
