Chris, thanks for sharing! I've been thinking a lot about this topic.
I've been reading a blog by a HK mommy living in Sweden. The Swedish has a very different philosophy in raising their children. The key is to bring out the curiosity and creativity of the kids - according to research, these all are innate, natural in our kids. But it's true that I'm also one of the "crazy" mom - 80% of my reading these days are on parenting. =)
You are very special, There is no one just like you
Created by the Master, God made you to be you
You are very special, Exclusively designed
You are very special, And I'm so glad you're mine

Totally agree. My twins don't like reading books, they just like to watch TV (especially those advertisements at ATV), so I let them to do what they like.
This is the blog I wanna share about the HK mom in Sweden. The two girls are so cute... look for the video where they practice Cantonese. =) http://lousyma.wordpress.com/
