My 4th ivf was failed again. I am still thinking to do the 5th time or not. Actually, my hubby's sperm not too good as the sharp is terribly bad, they are in globe sharp. He is now consulting a doctor what 's going on. But it seems not too much can do for him to improve. I am thinking if I try the 5th ivf, the result of fertilization may be same as before, none or only one can fertilized. Even I have more eggs it cannot help. So have you seen the very bad condition of sperm can still grow and finally to become a baby?
If I understand correctly, your hubby may have something called globozoospermia, in which most sperm appear round-headed. It is a very rare condition and I only came across it once or twice in my career. We all have poor fertilization with this type of sperm even by doing ICSI where we deliver the sperm directly into the egg.
However, men with globozoospermia still vary in the proportion of these abnormal sperm in their ejaculates. Note that even if we can find normal-looking sperm in such a sample, we are still talking about somewhere <1% in that sample. The bad news is that we still have no method to improve fertilization in these cases; at best we can only try to pick the best-looking sperm to be placed into an egg.
In your previous ivf attempts, how many eggs you had and how many embryos you transferred? Any pregnancy/livebirth? Definitely give yourself some time to think things through because your 5th ivf is costly both financially and emotionally, and also the failing chance is likely high.
It's only my personal opinion, if you have a child already, you should take good care of this precious one, move on with your life and forget about further ivf.
Best wishes, cutecutetown

Thanks for your reply. For my last IVF, I have 12 eggs however finally have one egg fertilized with 2 cellls on day 2 without fregament. We have seen the doctor, they suggested that my hubby should take the clomiphere for two months, see whether the sperms can improve or not. If they found some improvement, then consider to the the 5ivf or not. Or just take the sperm of the testicle.
I don't know is it work or not, and have a second baby really our hope. So I think I will see result after the medicine for my hubby, if they have improvement, we will consider again, otherwise I think I will give up.
Once again, thanks for your advice.

I had my ET on 2/7 with 3 grade 1 embryos. I had rested on the surgery bed for about 30 minutes. But during my rest (about 10 mins after the ET), I coughed a bit. Did it affect my successful rate?
Besides, I had a horrible dream that night. I worried it lowered my chance.
Did the embryos stick to my uterus after the ET immediately? Otherwise, would they move if I walked or coughed?
My first attempt of IVF 'sort of' failed as my eggs were not growing in the the same 'pace' and 2-3 were too big. So doctor suggested changing to IUI. And on Jun 24, I confirmed bingo. Unfortunately, I have brownish discharge since Jun 21. My hubby and I were quite worry (you know I had two miscarriage before). I had a ultrasound on Jun 30 (more brownish discharge that evening, so went to emergency), doctor saw it (singleton) but it's too small (below 0.5cm, and no clear yolk seen) and quite a few follicle. I have two questions:
would the brownish discharge coming from the follicle?
I had my IUI done on Jun 10, 10.30pm on Jun 8 打破卵針, 敢卵子係幾時排出? 我現時係week幾? is the size smaller than it should be?
My 1st ivf is fail but I have some queries hope you could give me some advise:
1. The procedure was done in overseas for I'm not living in HK. Because of some reason, I have to drive 1.5 hour from hospital to home after ET. Though I already rested in the hospital for about half an hour after the transfer, I just wonder if the travel time will affect the result, as bed rest is recommended.
2. My beta blood test was positive with HCG 5.8, i.e. day10 after ET. Was it a chemical pregnancy?
3. Since I don't have any frozen embryo, do you recommend me to start the ivf treatment straight away? Or should I rest for a cycle?
Your chance may be lower compared to someone who is 30 years old; but given that you are close to 40 and have enough embryos for both a fresh transfer and freezing, you are doing well.
It is hard to recommend how many IVF attempts a woman should have, because different women have different ovarian responses to drug stimulation, and they also have different subfertility causes other than age alone. As of this time point for you, do the coming FET. Perhaps be prepared you may need one more cycle of ivf. These can easily take up 3-6 months of your time. Only if they all fail, then we can come back to this question seriously.
Most IVF doctors are caring and helping. Unless you really don't like your doctor you may consider changing; otherwise, he/she has the experience with your treatment and can only do better for your next cycle.
Be well-rested for your FET in Aug. Take care,

Dear Cutecutetown,
I have just failed my 1st IVF 2 days ago. I plan to do FET in Aug. I will be 40 years old in this Sep. Do you think my chance of success is low?
Usually most patients will be scheduled for their pregnancy test 14 days after the day of ET. There is not much use to "cheat" any earlier as it is difficult to confirm the result. Especially if you don't know what luteal phase support you are on, false positive bingo test can be heart-breaking.
塞藥無話要塞到幾入, as long as it is inside the vagina/cervical canal it should be fine. Check the instructions with your nurse if you are still uncertain.
Have some great embryos and a smooth ET!

This is a very common question almost every woman asks. The uterus, or the endometrial lining, is not a dry empty space; rather, it is moist and muscular. Imagine it as a cup of jelly and your embryo(s) being a very small piece of fruit. When you put this small piece of fruit into the jelly, it should not fall out unless you really scoop it out, or if you purposefully shake the jelly upside down (in which case the whole jelly may fall out of its cup as well).
So, although embryos do not implant immediately, they are very trapped inside the uterus. Walking and coughing should not generate enough force to expel them out of the uterus. Your horrible dream was probably a reflection of your anxiety during the day. Do not get over-worried.

The brownish discharge was from the early onset of a miscarriage, not from the follicles. Did you see your own IUI/IVF doctor after the emergency admittance? Were you given further luteal support medication?
You will need your IUI/IVF doctor's advice. Very generally speaking, based on your IUI date which was somewhat equivalent to the day of ovulation (June 10), your were about 5 weeks pregnant on June 30. On an ultrasound scan, a fetal sac should be visible but still very small. Fetal cadiac activity (heart beat) will not be visible until 6-8 weeks of gestation. So, the emergency doctor gave only fair observations, the interpretation of which should be taken cautiously.
After破卵針, 卵子will ovulate in about 36 hours. I suspect the few follicles the emergency doctor saw were just empty "shells"; the eggs should be ovulated weeks ago. Notice that follicles or "shells" are in your ovaries, while any fetal sac should be in your uterus.
I hope you have seen your IVF doctor by now. Let us know your progress. Take care,
cutecutetown

1. Your travelling should not affect the embryos, especially you rested for 0.5 hour before driving home. I have provided an analogy to explain the delicate design of the uterus and transferred embryos. You may see my posting to bingoc9, which is about 2 postings before this one.
2. Looked like a chemical pregnancy, although you checked a little earlier than you should. Have you checked with your doctor already? If not, and if your period hasn't returned yet, check again on day 14 after ET.
3. Theoretically, there shouldn't be any difference whether you start straight away or a month later. Decide with your doctor and seek his/her recommendation first. Usually, I will suggest a month rest, more for psychological than physical recovery, especially some women also have OHSS or undergoing their first-time ivf.

With failing embryos, M would still come even when you are on both progesterone injection and
塞藥. However, it seems too early to see M return on day8 after FET. If you haven't consulted your doctor yet, please do so. Unless he/she tells you to stop all progesterone, you should continue with both injection and 塞藥.
My center also has some patients with similar situation (brown spotting) before the pregnancy test is due. Although the little bleeding may be an early sign of a miscarriage, many continue with their progesterone or receive a slightly higher dose. Most of these pregnancies turn up ok and continue on. Therefore, communication with your clinic is very important. Do not panic and get frustrated too soon.
2 embryos put into my uterus on Jun 30, today is day 6 and I have an uncomfortable feeling like 谷漲. Do you think if this sign means the embryos are implanting? Can we feel anything during this time or it depends? Thank you.

Usually you shouldn't feel anything. I wish that could mean implantation, but there is just no evidence to prove or dis-prove it. Maybe we can re-visit and discuss this 'feel' after your bingo test.
Take it easy and don't give it much thought. It can be anything, or perhaps you ate a little more than usual over the weekend.
Stay cool, cutecutetown
