Thank you. With your recommendations, I have no worry in finding books for my son who needs to submit 40 book reports in order to get a certificate from the school.
Most of the books can be found at public libraries. If you really want to buy, you may try the bookstore suggested by ettawong. I guess Page One and other big bookstores may have got them too. But I'm not so sure, I usually borrow the books from libraries. I have just checked paddyfield.com and they have got most of them too. The price is around HK$39.
Dear csk,
40 book reports!! ...... what's the time limit? Does your son need to write about each book or just choose some of them to write?
He may submit the book reports througout the whole P.2 year. So far, he has submitted 9 reports and he has finished reading 20 books since Oct. 1, I believe he may get the cert. eventually. Personally, I do not think doing book reports will encourage reading. As long as he has no hard feeling in doing book reports, I would try to ask him to write the report for each book which is quite simple. Your sharing is very helpful as his reports may now include various subjects such as health, science, not only story books.
I don't like doing book reports, too. For me, it seems like a penalty if I need to write a report for every book I read. My son loves drawing the characters for the book reports, some of them are quite cute. I hope the teacher will return the reports later and I would keep them up.
