I keep a car a portion because of free parking at both sides
Be frank, I agree that dun really worth if only keep a car for weekends.... If a large amount ispaid for parking and liscence

I have a question. If you have to pay 6k to 8k each month to keep a car, which is even more expensive than taking taxi everyday, why you want to drive in HK? Personally to me, driving in HK is not much fun as the roads are busy, parking are expensive, very hectic to find a carpark,............ While taking taxi is hassle free, door to door transfer, mentally relax. Taxi are abundant in the road.
I'm still struggling if I should purchase a family car. The genuine benefits for my family is that my kids enjoying having our own car, we keep our possessions in the car, so when we go out, we feel so free without loads of bags.

係，養車係貴過搭的士，尤其你未必日日搭，真係唔多化算。不過，自己有架車都有以下好處：

1) 有啲人好鍾意揸車個操控感。
2) 方便隨時有車出入，因為有時截的士都唔易，例如去山卡拉郊外，或者八號風球、落大雨時。
3) 如果成班朋友都揸車，大家（尤其個個都係一家大小）約去遠少少的地方玩，咁自己無車就無咁方便。
4) 帶BB出街有好多裝備，唔駛全日跟身；帶小朋友去街或上課外班的裝備（尤其大件的），亦唔駛下下手攞。
5) 預到時間，例如由A點去B點，一定要係短時間內到達，一下截唔到的士就遲到，咁有架車梗好啲。

不過錢就實使多好多架啦，睇你有無餘錢想咁使啦。

其實有時心癮大過實際0既. 我以前撘的士返工, 十分鐘內一定返到工, 日日來回咁撘每個月都只係二千蚊左右, 雖然明知自己楂車, 淨係停車場兩邊加埋都要六千幾, 時間每程仲要多十分鐘, 撘左兩年的士, 最後都係忍唔住自己買車. 買左之後雖然錢同時間都會用多左, 但係唔知點解都好ENJOY.
有車你自己可以隨時去邊就去邊, 雖則話撘的士都得, 但係坐的士通常都會有個目的地, 你自己楂就好自由.

But if the car is used for taking children for afterschool lessons, the fees for carpark could be costly, while taking taxi is pt to pt drop off which saves also the time to do parking. That's why Iam hesitated to own a car. We won't use a car for work, but mainly for children activities and weekend venturing out.

The dilemma here is 有餘錢, but should I own a car? To my hubby, the answer is definitely a "no" due to owning a car is more expensive in an absolute term.....the rationale is if we could have other modes of transportation as substitutes in a less expensive way, why would we own a car? That's his rationale.

我同意買車/養車唔係一個rational既決定, 擁有自己車當然有好多好處, 但要看自己能否負擔得到及有自己車既需要程度而作出平衡.

我咁0岩就因為自己有車而係緊急時候幫上大忙.
我小兒係8號風球出世的. 當時凌晨12點幾/1點見紅, 當時8號波已經掛了大半晚. 我2公婆由屋企開車去醫院, 只見途中有一, 兩架私家車. 的士就完全一架都見唔到...去到醫院, 我已經4分鐘陣痛一次, 我老公話如果今晚等call 的士就麻煩好多咯, 如果無車要call白車又要再等 (我地2個都估唔到個晚會生得, 仲咁快陣痛得咁頻密). 佢話其實養車都覺得好肉赤但係今次就覺得好值得喇.

這個只是我個人的經驗分享, 無人會想家中發生緊急事情的.
