We went with our kids (aged 4 & 8) during Chinese New Year and they had great fun. But we have some comments about this place:
GOOD:
1. The hotel is very well managed and room is OK -
but a bit old as the balcony is getting rusty. Try to get upper floor room as last time they offered us the lower floor and there was terrible smell. We talked to the manager and they changed the upper floor room to us and room is fine.
2. The tourist spots (hot spring, restaurants and the mysterious island) within the resort are well connected by shuttle bus, but you can also walk (about 10 minutes)
3. The hot spring is fun, both indoor and outdoor. Service is excellent with free drinking water provided at almost every pool. Also there is staff at each pool to serve you with water and towel.
4. My kids like the 親親小鱼池 in the outdoor area very much. They stayed there for 1 hour even it's so cold outdoor (don't forget we went in winter time). A lot of little fish (size of kid's finger) will swim around you and "kiss" you. It is not painful but just itchy! Very very funny - but need to pay extra
5. Everything is provided in the hotspring - towels and even rubber slippers for the kids. But remember to bring your own swimsuit. Bathrobe is provided at extra charge! But towel is enough lor!
BAD:
1. Mysterious Island is not very big with not many games - they like Chimelong park more! And too pricey lar, almost same as Ocean Park but no worth it (to us!) We finish
ed touring around within an hour and it's my kids requested us to leave!!!
2. The whole resort is very remoted and takes more than an hour by bus from the pier. That means you are more or less "trapped" in the resort.
3. The water in the hotspring is quite warm, it's OK for us during winter but not sure would it be too hot to go in sumer time.
4. A choice of restaurants at the fisherman pier with cheaper price but prefer to eat inside the hotel for better quality (however more expensive!) But the Chinese restaurant in the hotel is quite good!
Tips:
1. We didn't watch the show as we have seen similar stuff in Chimelong 大馬戲。It's relatively quite expensive for us
2. Remember to bring sun protection stuff: cap/umbrella and sunscreen lotion. Almost everything is outdoor and if you walk from place to place, you will find almost no shades!!!
