Hi GFung,
Just found your previous messages regarding applying for HKID/passport for overseas born child. I am pregnant now and due in November 2011. I am now in Korea as my husband is Korean.
I am considering to give birth in Korea and then apply for HKID/passport (citizenship) for my child in Hong Kong. But my child will naturally get korean nationality right at birth. So I need to sort out how to apply in HK.
Can you share with me how to manage to do the application? Did you go to embassy in your current country or apply in Hong Kong in person? Also, your child now has just HK nationality but NOT your husband's nationality? I heard HK doesn't accept dual nationality.
In my case, I don't mind my child give up Korean nationality. Having just HK nationality alone is fine.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Thanks GFung for the detail reply.
I will contact the immigration department to find out more. Will share here once I get the specifics.

Hopefully our children can at least get the HKID card - to dilute the overflow of chinese migrants to HK. Our children also deserve the right to abode in HK and the benefits!
That is one of the reasons. But not all.
We also want our child to be educated in HK in the future. So getting a HK ID card is better. For Korea, they accept dual nationality for children under age of 18, so we can always apply for family visa or permanent residence status for our child to enjoy benefits (e.g. medical, education) in Korea. So that's why we prefer getting the HK ID card /passport first.
