if you got the british driving license, come over to canada and go to service canada to exchange the canadian license, no need to sit for any road test
it is the same, UK license could directly change to canadian full license to drive in ontario.
HK is now under the CHINA, so the treaty for exchagne driver license not valid la. so if you are holding HK or international driving license, you could only come here to drive for 6 months.
1) Visiting: less than 3 months
If you are visiting Ontario for less than 3 months and want to drive while you’re here, you can use a valid driver’s licence from your own province, state or country.
You will also need to:
be at least 16 years old
have proper insurance coverage for the vehicle you will drive
carry an original (or exact) copy of the vehicle ownership permit
obey traffic laws, drive safely and avoid collisions when you drive
2) Visiting: more than 3 months
If you will be visiting from another country for more than 3 months, you will need an International Driver\'s Permit (IDP) from your own country.
You need to have this permit with you when you arrive in Ontario. You cannot apply for one once you are here

For ppl who have only HK driver licence, u need to do the road test. For ppl who have expired driver licence or have less then 2 years driving experience, u properly need to do written test and 2 road tests.

You cannot exchange ur licence to be Ontario driver licence if u are:
1. a driver’s licence from a country that does not have an exchange agreement in place with Ontario (it is not listed in the section above)
2. a learner’s permit or novice-class driver’s licence from another province, state or country
You might still be able to fast-track and get credit for previous driving experience.

How to Proof of driving experience?
**You can self-declare one year of driving experience, by showing a valid, original foreign driver’s licence.
**If you want to earn credit for more than one year of driving experience, you will also need an official letter from the foreign government or agency that issued the driver’s licence, confirming that the licence is authentic. This letter needs to be written in English or French.
How to apply?
To switch your licence for an Ontario driver’s licence, you need to apply in-person at a DriveTest centre or the ServiceOntario College Park location in downtown Toronto.
You need to:
take an eye test
bring original identification showing your legal name, date of birth and signature
bring your original, valid out-of-province/foreign driver’s licence*
bring any original supporting documents that show proof of your driving experience**
pay the applicable fees
fill out an application form (where you will state how long you have been driving)
You might also need to take a written test or road tests, before you get a full licence. It depends on your circumstances, such as driving experience.
1) 2+ year driving experience (for ppl who cannot exchange ur licence to be Ontario driver licence)
When you apply for an Ontario driver’s licence, you need to:
take a written test about rules of the road and traffic signs
take an eye test
After you pass the written and eye tests, you need to take one road test (G2 road test). You can book the G2 road test right away.
After you pass the G2 road test, you get a full licence.
2) Under 2 years driving experience (for ppl who cannot exchange ur licence to be Ontario driver licence)
When you apply for an Ontario driver’s licence, you need to:
take a written test about rules of the road and traffic signs
take an eye test
Before you get a full licence, you also need to take two road tests (G1 and G2).
You can book the first road test (G1 road test), after you pass the written and eye tests.
After you pass your G1 road test, you cannot take your G2 road test right away. You need to wait until you have one, full year of driving experience. For example, if you’ve had your foreign licence for 8 months, you can take your G2 road test after 4 months in Ontario. After you pass the G2 road test, you get a full licence.
While you wait, you can drive with your G1 licence, under certain conditions.

大頭蝦 - when you exchagne your BK license to Ontario, which normally expire in 5 yrs. (i.e. 2019) then renew it every 5 year in Ontario... and FYI, they will forefeit your UK license... so you better keep a copy of that in case you want to reapply a UK license when you visit UK.
