we suggested to "Leung E E" that they can consider using "corn starch" in water instead as it's much safer and the texture is v. interesting.

try adding a little water to the corn starch. it will become liquid but if u squeeze, it will return to a solid. babies would find it quite interesting.

if simply want babies to ve a feel of the texture of jelly, using jelly is fine.

but , unlike corn starch + water, jelly will form solid and won't become liquid again.

A mixture of water and corn starch, in the correct ratio, has unique behavior. The mixture will flow like a fluid. If the mixture is impacted sharply, it will behave like a solid. A liquid like this, which becomes more viscous when more force is applied, is called non-Newtonian. It's actually a high school science topic but babies can also get a feel of this v. interesting behaviour and experienced the transition from liquid and solid and vice versa.

thanks for your sharing :) i m quite confused how to tackle the mouthing issue.

Daisy and also some bks like "catching babie's sensitive period" all told us just to let babies "eat" but describe what they r "eating". don't stop them.

but we found this doesn't help reducing the freq. then we took JP's social wker "Leung E E's" advice and told baby that the item is not food, should not be put into the mouth. seems the situation is a bit improved. he eats less freq. but will still eat all the new items.

the mouthing issue is really my headache.

changed in 9th month.. so gd. baby loves eating the milk and will smile at the bottle and will crawl towards me and ask for milk (mum mum...)

remember he was crying when he drank the milk before the 6th month?

大仔奶粉 is so great!

if simply counting DHA, 0-9 month should be a bit more:

9-36 month: DHA content is 65mg per 100g milk powder. v.s 0-9 month: DHA content is 70mg per 100g.

but, seems 9-36 month's taste to my baby is better. and thus baby drinks much more. then, the total nutrient intake will be more (no idea how much is absorbed)

but u know, taste is v. subjective.

when i took daisy's class in March, she didn't sell Mont tools. thus, i don't know the production site of the tools selling.

in view of the freq. toys recalls this yr, u may wish to double check the origin of the tools first.
