Can anyone share if it is worthwhile to appoint an agent to do the work? If so, could you suggest an agent in HK, please.

I did it myself online, very easy. Just need to make sure you've got enough points (eligible) and all the documents needed.

However, if you don't have enough points, then, you need an agent to help you lor.

if you submitted your application online, you can login to check the status of your application.

Yes, supposing that I can check the status from on-line. However, the status have not been updated since the date that I submitted.

How long did you wait for the feedback from them?

Nowaday, rules changed a lot. 8 yrs ago I had my online application done within 6 months.

After submitting the application forms and required documents, the case officer contacted us only when they wanted us to do the medical check up and submit the 良民證. After that things proceeded quite fast.

I believe the waiting time depends on what kind of VISA is applied.

I checked up on the Parent VISA, they say the applicant would receive a case no, then has to wait up to 10 years!

not much update until they sent email asked for some details, then received letter for body check.

make sure don't put their email into junk mail box, I missed one of their email due to it move to junk mail box by my mail account.

I quite supprise that they really send email to ask question consider migration is very important thing.

I also got mine granted within 4 months, mine was an onshore Skill visa application.

Well, I'm not sure if I've got pass the point test. But by reference to the point test scheme and a quick calculation, I might have 110 point which is insufficient. However, I do have a sister in Mel who might be able to help. But I wonder apart from the relationship as a relative, is there any other requirements such as the income proof.

Besides, in order to get the 110 points, I know I need to get my skill assessed and have 6 points from the IELTS test.

if your sister is willing to sponsor you, then, you will be applying "Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) visa (subclass 176)" visa, the pass points is 100 only.

then your sister need to fill in the form 1127 to sponsor your application. There is no income proof but rather ask if the sponsor/her partner are receiving some benefit from the government.

Have a look the form and good luck.

it will not affect the current Family Benefit (A / B) they are getting but if they are getting Newstart (means they are unemployed), then I guess (just guess) they won't be able to sponsor you.

Check with your sister first, she just need to fill in the form and nothing else.
