From my 1.5-year exp of bidding books from ebay, I found most of the buyers at ebay are prof.

They will only outbid you in the last second before closing of the bid.

Re: Max-bid, well, it may be one of the method avoiding frequent check up with the bid price, but not secure you can get what you want!! Actually you will never know who can get the goods untiil the bid was over!

Once I found myself was the higgest bidder 3 sec before closing, and when I press F5 and update the page, the bid was already over and I lose by just less than 1 pound.... I will never forget this la !! :-( :-(

I think my Indo maid can get something from the Indo shops in CWB, but of course NOT the pandan chiffon / sponge cake.

Once upon a time, about 2 yrs ago, SCMPost / Naam Wa group opened a bakery, there was one in 灣仔集成中心 and another in 三里屯 near SHK Centre. Well the pandan sponge / chiffon cake was sold there, for only HK$25 approx ja !!!
But a few months later the bakeries all closed.
I think I bought at least 5 - 8 cakes there before it disappeared.

Then there is a Sing-food restaurant in TST, I think in 山林道，sells freshly baked pandan sponge / chiffon cakes. My mum saw a 繕稿in 飲食男女(mag), called them up, and found that one cake = $180 !!!

搶錢咩!!

If you are good at cooking / baking, and knows how to make sponge cake, can buy the pandan leaf from the 香料舖，there is one right next to Wan Chai 新景園in 春園街(famous for its curry, pork chop and 乾炒牛河etc), then bake the pandan sponge / chiffon cake !!!

Do you suspect that, sometimes, it is the seller who is trying to bid the px up, and the seller who cancels the offer before deadline if the bid px is not to his/her satisfaction ?
i.e. what happens in HK Yahoo too.

I like the curry pork chop with rice at 新景園 too!! Very yummy!! But I do not notice there's a cake shop selling sponge cake nearby wor... need to look look sin.

I would like to bid at ebay as well but in which way that you are paying them? By credit card? They always mention paypal, what is it? Please tell me what is your usual way to pay after you bidded something in ebay. Thanks.

Yes, the only way of payment by overseas customers (like us) is Paypal.

Your Paypal account must be linked with your credit card account, so in turn you'll end up settle your bill by credit card payment.

You may open your own ebay account first and follow it's guidance to open a Paypal account. They will have corresponding link and lead you go thru' the whole process.

Or you may visit www.paypal.com for further info

我全家都好"為食"架!

The shop next to 新景園is a shop selling 香料，spices and herbs, eg pepper, herbal ingredients for making curry, [size=large]and pandang leaves. The pandang leaf is the main ingredient for the pandang sponge / chiffon cake, where the green colour and good smell come from.

The shop itself does NOT sell pandang cake ga.

Not sure. It is a herb found in Malay area.
Not a Chin herb. Any name = translation of the original Malay name.
I thought it was spelt "banyan", (read as "baan-yarn"), but Gloria corrected me and said her Sing friend told her it should be pandang.

Cannot go la. Not enough time.
(You will find that P1 homework, however little in quantity, will occupy a large part of spare time.)

The Belgian gweilo friend is returning to HK for Sat and Sun, and we've arranged for either Yung Kee roast goose or 北京樓 - 北京填鴨as Sat dinner.

Need to force / encourage my son to finish his weekend homework before going.
He has to read a (very simple) Engl book "Stars" for return next Monday, and a Chin book "蒲公英xxxxx飛，飛，飛" then do a drawing and 2-sentence Chin book report at least, for handing in next Monday. Also study 1 piece (1 page, 7 lines) Chin for dictation next Monday. Maybe read 1 or 2 other Chin books and a few Engl books.
Plus homework from school today. :-|

But saving a lot for my pocket and purse.

You sound as if you're very interested in going ??

I looked up the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary and found "banyan" (or "banian") tree means 印度榕樹. Its sound should be pronounced as "班人" from the IPA symbol in dict.

I think your son can handle it easily. At least the homework are not the type of '抄&寫', My nephew is studying at 油天 P.2. He has loads of homework during weekend and most of them are 抄&寫. It is quite scary.

Not really, I am not going to BBshelf since the location is not closed to MTR station and I also want to save the money.
