most of the things could be bought from tornoto, , some of them are even cheaper than in HK. besides, the shipping costs you paid out may be able to buy new things here....
unless you have lots of stuff you did not want to give away to people before you leave HK...
for me only 2 suitcases (for clothings) to bring to here. then only 5 cartoon boxes for all photo albumns & books and my other clothings.
1. 什麼廚具適宜使用?易潔鑊、五層鑊定生鐵鑊;真空煲、壓力煲? all can be bought from chinese plaza.
2. 那些食物或物品要多帶?what kind of food you are referring too? mushroom? dry scallop? can be found in chinese herbs store..
3. 有一些私人貴重物品,你會放係香港保險箱定手提跟身走? hand carry of course..but if you are returning to HK, then up to you if you want to leave it to safety boxes in HK.
4. 其他 - all furnitures, electronics are bought from here to fit the room size and voltage...
since you have kids, make sure they have enough clothings to change for the time being... books and toys that they used to play . but sooner or later, they will get the new toys from local shops here. then no need to worry...

I also had this struggle on what to ship over. Finally, I shipped almost everything (filling more than one 20 feet container with over 100 boxes + big items.. a bit crazy )
To my observation so far, perhaps TV and English books are the only things I found cheaper. Other items are more expensive than HK with shipping cost already added. Such as furniture (almost double HK prices), some low voltage home appliances which I will use transformers to change voltage, houseware/kitchenware/pots/pans, adult/kids clothing... Or am I looking at the wrong stores here? Where can I find cheaper stuff in Toronto? Thanks.
We plan to bring more kitchenware and clothes. Our relative had already helped us to buy a rice cooker and 象印熱水煲 in Taiwan...................cheaper than in HK. Other furnitures will be bought in Toronto. We plan to rent a house and not sure the size.
yes if buying 床單,記得買北美size - also need to know what is the thickness (height) for the mattress, we have 9, 11, 13, 15" mattress. some of the bedsheet that bought from HK (even for North america size) still not fit.
also, my experience, better buy the fitted sheet than flat sheet, as mattress so heavy, diff to lift up for making the bed...
yes, price here sometimes might be expensive than HK, but with those return/refund policy and warranty, i still prefer to buy from here..... and for long term, you still need to buy clothings and others necessities locally or you are planning to go back Hk each year to replenish your stock????
