小兔臨睡前問爸爸,guess how much I love you?
Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig,亦是我很喜歡的。

These are personality theme books and suitable for above 5 years old.
I'm very interested in these books. Could you please let me know where can I get these? Could I get these from the Hong Kong Central Library? Please advise.
I went to Central Library today & looked for the books mentioned here. Quite a lot of them are there, though most are borrowed out. But at least it's an option than to buy them out right $$$$$!
I know that the age of your daughter is close to mine (6 years old now). Would you please suggest some books for her?? Better for shelf-discipline and be kind and love people etc. Both English and Chinese are welcome (better in simple English:-P )
I am very happy that my daughter loves to read any form of words, e.g. posters everywhere in the street, catelogues, menus, bills and even the packing paper of some commodies. Although her endedless questions makes me crazy and sometime challenging too, I think, as you mentioned before, it is really a good attitude for her further development. But facing to her steadily more serious questions, I feel difficult to satisfy her. What will you do once she asks you some questions which you don't know the answers and also no time to find them out?? To me, I will feel sorry to her because she should get more and can be more smart if her mother is smart enough :-(
I'd need some time to answer ther first part of your question. Perhaps I can ask my daughter to give me some idea or check her bookshelf. But for the second part about giving sensible answer to the questions you don't know, I can answer you right away because it always happens in our family.
It's a blessing that your daughter enjoys reading printed matter,(mine too). The first resort you can turn to , of course. is the public library. If the one nearest to your home is not so children's friendly, spare some time to go to those that have better facilities,e.g, the Central Library. I bet the newer it is, the better reading environs are provided. I guess you can find answers to most of the factual questions raised by your little one.
But young minds would be confined to questions about facts. My daughter once asked me,what are the most important things in life. Ah, it's not easy to answer. My daughter has great trust in me and take my words very seriously. I am, therefore, very careful about questions like this because what you answer is what she gets. Finally I found some intelligent tips and words of wisedom from a parenting website in English. I translated them into Chinese and printed it out nicely and gave her as a birthday present.
The long story above is about one powerful tool - the Internet. You can find not only facts but also many websites about parenting that are of great value to you. Your child can search for pictures of animals (most useful when doing school projects) and satisfy her quest for knowledge and you will find unlimited room for acquiring knowledge as a mother.
Long-winded I am. Perhaps I can continue later tonight after checking her bookshelf.
- The Drop Goes Plop (A first look at the water cycle)
- A Seed in Need (A first book at the plant cycle)
- The case of the Missing Caterpillar (A first book at the life cycle of a bufferfly)
