I went to Scotland 14 years ago and stayed there for 2 weeks. In my opinion, exploring Scotland with a car is the best. Some highlights include:
Visiting castles: there are castles everywhere. I would recommend three castles tied to Scot royal families: Edinburgh, Sterling and Scone Palace.
Stay in castle-converted Youth Hostels: there are 2: Loch Lomond and Carbisdale. Bother are reputed to be haunted, very exciting. The Norwegian royal family stayed in Carbisdale while in exile during World War II.
Visit a few islands, you can join a 3-islands tour to Iona, Staffa and Mull at Oban. Iona contains the graveyards of many Scot kings, Staffa has giant volanic rock pillars. Skye is remote and beautiful. You can also board a ferry at John o' Gloats to Orkney Islands. You'll have the feeling of getting to天涯海角 there. In fact, I believe that some of the scenes in the movie 天涯海角 with Kelly Chan were shot at John o' Gloats and Orkney Islands.
Of course you can visit the famous Loch Ness.
In addition, both Inverness and Aberdeen are nice cities to visit besides Edinburg. You can visit a whiskey brewery near Aberdeen.
By the way, there is a big music festival in Edinburgh in August. Accommodation may be difficult to find.

Thanks for information. Since I know the accommodation is very tight in Aug, so I booked before I plan the trip and why I would not join 3 days tour. Since I need to attend some functions arranged by school, I only book hotel in Edinburgh only (from 21-30). I'm afraid it too long if I only stay there, so I joined 1 day tour to visit Holy Island, Bamburgh and Alnwick Castle. And also the tatoo Show and Edinburgh Castle. Do you have any other recommendation? I will not drive so that the place need easy to go. What kinds of the passes you suggest to me? thanks.

The only pass I bought was the British Heritage pass which was for museums and gardens, but you have to see a lot of them to make it worth. hence I am unable to advise you on transportation pass. Sterling and Perth are not far from Edinburgh and can be covered in one day. Scone Palace is in Perth. Day trips to Aberdeen or Inverness could be possible.
